There is no death! Life is triumphant as ever Though wintry gales still sweep across the plain, Though drifts still lurk unmelted on the mountains And blue spring skies grow dark with sleet and rain, Forsythia drips with gold despite the snowflakes, And violets wink bright eyes mid whitened grass; The robin's carol yields not to the tempest; The bluebird murmurs that this too will pass. Perennial miracle of Life's renewal, How manifest to us this holy day! Again we stand in silence and wonder, And from our hearts the stone is rolled away. ~ Rose Koralewsky~ |
I LIKE THE CROCUS Winter was long. The snow was deep. My soul very nearly met defeat. With love and friends and warming sun The beauty of life has just begun. |
RENEWAL Weary of winter's lingering day, I walked along an old pathway. Sullen and bare were the trees and sod; there seemed so little here to laud. Then mid snowflakes, a lacy few, I saw a crocus pushing through; And in a treetop veiled with haze, a robin sang his morning praise. My thoughts turned to our caring God who puts the crocus in the sod And lifts the small bird's heart to sing at the first faint hint of spring. I brushed snowflakes from crocus there and humbly bowed in praise and prayer; God had sent his Spring anew and in my heart renewal too. ~ Kay Hoffman ~ |
Dear Father, When I am disappointed and discouraged, help me to remember that you have prepared a new dream for me. Guide me to experience the resurrection power available because of your mercy. Amen. |
